The History of Scent and the Aroma
The original source of all scents and aromas and of all the ingredient used in the making of women's perfume is Ancient Egypt. At the beginning they were used in balms and ointments, as burning incenses, in religious rites or as medications.
Generally ointments were applied as a treatment in sickness and injury balms and later on beauty and cosmetics. Some of them were present in rituals and had an important role in the processes of clearance and purification. Others were applied for sexual motifs in different festivals and parties.
After Ancient Egypt, Greece, Rome and Islamic empires heard and discovered the skills of the ancient Egyptians in utilizing fragrances and they continued the tradition. The Arabs usually used women's perfumes but after Christianity they considered them irrelevant.
France used scented gloves all the time, not to mention that for some centuries royal blood was considered so pure that the king and the queen were not allowed to take a bath. So these gloves became very important and soon became very popular being worn by royalty to aristocracy and then passing even to common people. In this was an idea merged : it was the idea of adding fragrance to everything and everybody.
In the nineteenth century fragrances came to an important turning point as 'eau de cologne' has been discovered.In a short period of time after this break-through discovery people learned to add some simple enhancements to the initial odor by adding fruit and natural herbs to it. It provoked a madness as people used it to their baths, wine, for washing their mouths, enemas and in addition to sugar. Some people even made injections of it.
Generally the scent was packed in a small bottle or in a classic package or even applied on a saturated sponge.In time, as all the people wanted to preserve better their scents glass production has grown. All this industry was taken at a new level as this was a real good change given to modern chemistry.Baccarat company grew in importance as the special design of the glass containers appeared.Gabriel In 1921 ChanelĂs renowned Chanel No.5 was introduced into the market. From that very moment the importance of perfume became important in the fashion business so that the perfume market was joined by any designer who had become famous. We can even name a lot of today's famous brands that started then this tactic - Pierre Bal, Nina Ricci and Christian Dior.
Today anyone can buy a perfume and all the people have access to it. It's use still remains the attraction of the opposite sex as romance and seduction will also be the purpose of women in general and of perfumes also.
