Bvlgari's offsprings came from an ancient Greek silversmiths family. Sotirio Bvlgari emigrated to Italy and made his own shop in 1884, on Via Sistina in Rome. Then, with the help of Costantino and Giorgio, his sons, he opened another shop on Via Condotti in 1905. This one still is a Bvlgari store even now.
In the 50s the two sons gave away the French school to create their own fashion style, while developing a strange interest for the jewels and for the precious stones. In this period they took over their father's business.
In July 1995 the Bvlgari Holding Company was first quoted on the Italian Stock Exchange and the International SEAQ in London, after opening their overseas stores in Monte Carlo, Paris, New York and Geneva. This is considered to be the start of Bvlgari's international expansion. Bvlgari launched on perfume industry with the opening of the Switzerland establishment in the beginning of the 90's.
In 1997 Bvlgari presented their first silk scarves collection. In 1998 Bvlgari launched their first leather bags and eyewear collection and in their 1999 expansion they included also table and giftware.
Nowadays they still are known as fine and prestigious jewelers and their first thought is to impress the international market. Bvlgari Company has Paolo Bulgari as Chairman and Nicola Bulgari as Vice-Chairman and their nephew Francesco Trapani as Chief Executive Officer.
