Donna Karan Perfumes

One of the "most sensible clothing" that emerged from the 80s and is now considered one of the better known figures in the Unitated States industries is, without any doubt Donna Karan. Her fame is linked also to her invention of the body.

Donna Faske was born in 1948 in Forest Hills, New York.Her father owned a haberdashery and her mother was a model mother. Donna had this fashion idea even when she was very young. When she grew up, she attended Parsons School of Design for two years after wich she began to work in collaboration with Anne Klein, producing moderately priced sportswear. She quickly became her associate by the year 1971. After Anne Klein died, in 1974, she was a co-designer with Louis Dell'Olio. After near a decade, helped by her husband Steven Weiss she started " Donna Karan New York" with her famous logo DKNY.

Her fist collection on DKNY was a change because she introduced a new system for dressing, an entirely new one, very different than the power suit used in the 80s.She wanted to make sure that her designed clothes were user-friendly and at the same time luxurious so she brought together facets and tailoring and combined them with sportswear. She blended cashmeres with Lycras in a chic choice of colors.In coloring she preffered blues and blacks.So her clothes did not make the headlines of fashion magazines but they were worn by a lot of people for their commodity. DKNY lines have always been considered the most innovative bridge lines. In 1988 Donna Karan introduced a less expensive DKNY label to dress her daughter Gaby. Nowadays, this label of her company sales jeans, hosiery, accessories, cosmetics, fragrance and menswear.

Donna Karan International was sold in April 2001 to a Frech conglomerate, LVMH for about $250 million in cash.LVMH is a luxury conglomerate that aquired also Gabrielle Studio.
