Prada Perfumes
Mario Prada started the Prada label in 1913 and sold leather handbags, shoes, and trunks. After gaining experience in the United States and Europe, he opened 2 boutiques in Milan.
Prada classic style consisted in suitcases of weighty walrus skin. When this kind of suitcases were not suited anymore as they were impractical on planes they were replaced by lighter ones. Waterproof garments were sold in the United States.Unfortunately, in the 70s the company began to decline.
But in 1950 Miuccia Prada was born. When she was 20 years old she almost achieved a doctorate in political science. In her 30s she became a communist. Only in 1970 she began constructing backpacks of waterproof fabric that was named Pocone.
At the age of 29, in 1979, Miuccia Prada took over her family business. She got to extend the business as she developed luxury bags and backpacks from nylon with classic lines.
Around 1985 Miuccia Prada developed her line of footwear that was designed for women and came in the same time with her pret-a-porter clothing line known for the good quality of fabrics.
Her first menswear shop was opened in 1998 in Los Angeles. After this one she opened also in Manhattan and Las Vegas..
Nowadays all celebrities wear Prada clothes, and this name is associated to a worldwide empire with stores throughout the western world.
Pradas style
Prada generally use synthetic fabrics of good quality which included crunchy polyester and parachute nylon on colors like green, black, white, browns, cream and battleship blue. An important characteristic that remained active from the day Miuccia Prada took over the company surely is reflected in simple shapes skirts to knee length and her well known skinny belts.
Prada clothes have become influential even Prada style in generally plain looking. Something really make it modern.Could it be the trimming of nylon parkas with mink? Or her trench coats? I think Prada won the entire world with her ice-cool minimalism.
Patrizio Bertelli, Miuccias husband bought in the late 90s Jil Sander, Helmut Lang, Fendi, Church Shoes, and other businesses.
In 2000 Jil Sander tried to took over Prada but she had to renounce and leave it back to Bertelli as she wasn't allowed to have anything with fashion until 2003.
Unfortunately, at the end of 2001 Prada had $ 1 billion debt.So they had to restrain themselves and sold Fendi to LVMH for $250,000,000. In 2002 they sold Byblos which was acquired just a year before. It seems really difficult to manage such a colossal company.
